Horse Barn Notes
All guidesThe cover sheet every caretaker can find
PawLine editorial · Published October 20, 2026
Keep identity, responsible people and current instruction locations together. A cover sheet locates the care plan; it does not replace it.
What to know
Include stable name and identifying details, the owner contact and a veterinarian contact confirmed by the owner. Keep financial details private. Point to the current instructions rather than copying old versions into several places.
Minnesota Extension treats care and biosecurity as connected responsibilities. Mark who last checked the sheet, particularly after a move or caretaker change. Name the person who owns an unanswered question. A cover sheet cannot grant treatment authority or spending permission.

Questions before you use this guide
What should I prepare first?
Keep identity, responsible people and current instruction locations together. A cover sheet locates the care plan; it does not replace it.
Does this guide replace veterinary advice?
No. It is an educational planning aid, not diagnosis, dosing or treatment. It has not yet been individually reviewed by a licensed veterinarian. Talk to your veterinarian about your animal and do not wait for an app response in an emergency.
